What can sin do in a believer’s life? While “the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin” (I John 1:7), we can still receive the consequences of those sins in the following ways if unconfessed and unaddressed in our life:
o It can disqualify us from our ministry (I Cor. 9:27)
o It robs you of your joy in the Lord (Psalm 51:12)
o It can disgrace your reputation (2 Samuel 12:14)
o It unleashes God's loving discipline (Heb. 12:5-12, I Cor. 5:5)
o It drains our spiritual vitality (I Peter 2:11)
o It quenches the Holy Spirit’s work in our life (Ephesians 4:30-32, I Thessalonians 5:19)
o It deprives us of our future rewards (2 John 8)
o It defiles our holiness (2 Corinthians 7:1)
o It hinders your spiritual progress (Hebrews 12:1)
o It can negatively influence your church family like leaven (I Corinthians 5:6-7)
o It could reveal a major deception in your professed faith (I John 1:6, 8, 10)
o It increases the heaviness of guilt (Ps. 32:4)
o It obstructs answered prayer (Isa. 66:18)
o It potentially causes others to stumble (Romans 14:13-15, Mark 9:42-48)
o It invites unwanted confrontation and church discipline (Matthew 18:15-20)
o It can mess up your worship (Matthew 5:23-24)
o It can cause physical problems (Ps. 32:3, I John 5:16, I Cor. 11:23-31)
